This week I caught up with 6 time major winner Nick Faldo at the Faldo Golf Institute By Marriott in Orlando, Florida. Undoubtively Marriott’s Grande Vista Resort is one of Marriott Vacation Club’s most luxurious resorts, offering one, two and three bed villas.

Whilst on the range Nick tried out different shafts on a couple of new sets of TaylorMade Tour Preferred and Burner clubs. It was amazing to see TaylorMade’s Flight Control Technology (FCT) that allows the player to easily adjust a metalwood’s loft, lie and face angle.

Furthermore we chatted about his new course in The Dominican Republic at the Roco Ki Resort. I recommed you take a look at the spectacular aerial photographs of this stunning course by clicking here.

Later on this month Nick travels to the course he designed at Mission Hills Golf Club in China for the Asian Grand Final of the Faldo Series.

Nick spoke about working for CBS Sports and The Golf Channel. It was fun to hear the 3 time winner speak about the buzz he gets from working at The Masters, the premier event in CBS Sports’ Calendar.

Nick also confirmed that this Summer he will play at the Open Championship at Turnberry.

It was a real pleasure to spend time with Nick and now I’m not the only one saying “it’s nice to be nice!”

Sir, Can these new clubs with heads that are adjustable for loft and lie etc be used in tournament golf? Can the heads be adjusted during the play of a round? During the play of a hole? Over night during the course of the tournament? When can they be adjusted? Curious!
    Martin Benjamin

    Andy:

Martin they can be used in tournaments but you have to make the adjustments before you start the round. You are not allowed to change them mid round.

Hi Andy…great job on the video. I’m guessing you did all the video and editing work yourself and I know its not easy so good on you.
Great to see Nick still striking it so consistently well. You set the mood well and he seemed pretty relaxed and so the whole thing had a good natural flow to it. Look forward to watching some more episodes and you’ve inspired me to jump into the deep end with my own vlogs.

    Cheers!

Homeofgolf.tv was in Orlando? How cool my home away from home. I think I was across the street from you when this was filmed? Loved seeing the behind the scenes coverage of Nick Faldo working with his new Taylormade equipment, well done.

Keep it up my friend, I look forward to the next update,

Really enjoyed the Faldo interview, the course i enjoyed playing was Rolling Hills near Fort Laurderdale, after watching the film Caddy Shack, another is Forest Fire at Kissimmee.

Living in Spain, a course I really enjoy is Agulion, followed closely by Hacienda de Alamo.

As Nick would say “it’s nice to be nice” so be nice to the slow 4 ball in front and they might let you through. Barry.

    Andy,

Have enjoyed your videos and look forward to more. I am headed to Scotland for a month long golf holiday, and am tremendously excited about it… 106 days and counting, not that I’m keeping track!

My favorite golf experience in the US is Bandon Dunes located outside Bandon Oregon. One of the courses was designed by a Scot – David McLay Kidd! I have played both Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes, but have yet to play the 3rd course – Bandon Trails. They are about to open a 4th course as well. It’s the closest you can get to Scottish Links golf outside Scotland from what I am told, and the motto is ‘Golf the way it was meant to be’. I couldn’t agree more!

    Andy

Enjoyed the interview with Nick Faldo having just read his autobiography “Life swings”. My friends and I go out to Orlando early each year to enjoy the beautiful climate and the great courses. This year we went to a very attractive course – The Mission Inn Resort & Club at Howey -in-the-Hills which is to the NW of Orlando. The Championship couse established in 1917 was great fun.

    Hi Andy

Best course I played in Florida (I played six last year) was Ridgewood Lakes but if you hate water or cannot hit a straight ball its probably well left alone and should try Diamondback

I enjoyed the Faldo interview especially since I am looking at their new Burner irons.
My favorite golf area is Hilton Head, Island due to the variety and availability of courses, restaurants and night life.

Andy, great job!!! You let Nick do all the talking, a rarity in most interviews of Celebs of late. Nick could have been the guy next door that one had run into on the range. Obviously Nick is a really nice guy and a great golfer! I enjoyed the interview very much! Thanks!

Good down to earth golf chat, Nick cuts out the B.S.at least I sure hope he carrys on that way.

Andy, thanks for setting up the video with Nick. It’s always nice to see the ‘great ones’ in a casual setting. You get a better feel for who they really are. My husband and I enjoy Nick’s TV commentary very much. Maybe you can tell him that The Golf Channel should turn off the bothersome background music when they’re recapping events.

Anyway, our favorite resort is Bandon Dunes. We’re looking forward to the opening of their new course. We like Bandon because it’s ‘link ‘s style’ golf and tries to keep it pure with refreshing ideas like ‘no electric golf carts’.

Wow!!! and you 2 get paid for having all that fun?

It is good to know great golfers like Nick are helping design golf gear we can all use. I personally use TaylorMade and have gained greater pleasure from the Game.We all love you Nick except of cause the ones you beat.

Great video Andy, was your wife the camerman on this one?
It just goes to shows what a nice chap Nick is to take the time to do this interview with you. He was very informative which I enjoyed.
I loved the ending, “It’s nice to be nice, my love”.
    Good onya Andy.
Being Australian I’ve never played a course in America but I love ‘Augusta’.

    14. Mar, 2009

Great video. I’ve always enjoyed watching Nick play and now that he’s on TV, he’s fun to listen to. He’s very fair in his assessment of player’s swings, etc. Since I’m getting on in years and have enjoyed the game for so long, ANY course that I play when I can look down and see the grass is my favorite! Pebble Beach will always be in my mind.

More like an advertisement than an interview.

However, pretty course and pretty equipment.

Since I hit shots all over the place the adjustable club would wear me out as I’d be changing it after every use…..

Home of Golf TV hits the road to Orlando! That’s great, Andy. What a super opportunity. I felt like I was on the range with you and Nick. It was interesting to hear all that he has going on. (A lot.) And that swing still looks machine-like. Well done.

Andy, Congratulations on scoring a great interview with Nick Faldo. Fun to watch him hit a bunch of balls with the new TaylorMade clubs, but boy, his legs need to see some sun! Kudos to Marriott for partnering with him on the Faldo Golf Institute. My favorite golf resort is Amelia Island Plantation in Northeast Florida. Phil
