Open Championship 17th Hole Tee at St Andrews – Episode #18
Posted on 24. Mar, 2010 by Andy Brown in Golf
In this episode I visit the new Road Hole tee on the Old Course at St Andrews. The tee on the 17th hole was built especially for the 2010 Open Championship.
To visit the Open Championship this year you can pre order tickets at http://tickets.randa.org/. If you would like to play the Old Course and the other 6 courses at St Andrews please visit the new Links Trust web site at Standrews.org.uk
I also filmed scenes from the glorious West Sands adjacent to the famous 1st and 18th holes.
The introduction and ending were filmed at Tentsmuir Sands about 8 miles from St Andrews.
Finally, the Question of the Day:
With all the bad weather how much golf have you been able to play so far this year? Please leave your comments below and we’ll have fun reading them!

Hi Andy, Nice Video. Recently played at Pearl Valley, SA. Realized that if you allow this game to get to you negatively it will!!!. I played 92 shots of 12 handicap in near perfect conditions. Three putts on the card regularly. Never a good feel for the game. Made one birdie on par 5 though! After analizing the game, it was mostly lack of concentration and wrong club choices that messed up my game. Only 5 days later played 83 of 12 which included 2 birdies! Never let a bad shot upset me and took my time with club choice. Just shows you that concentration with relaxation in between shots helps a lot. Happy golfing.

Love the views
! Although I live in California (so I can’t really talk
), but with my business finding time to play can be a issue. Trying to fix that. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Hey Andy. Thanks for the great effort that you have made n after we purchased your new four magic moves. Your commitment to make us better golfers is unprecedented among all the other programs I have purchased over the years. The moves are being incorporated into my swing albeit slowly. As you know i purchased your program in the winter here in Canada Montreal. Went beserk trying this out at home indoors and in my lobby, chipped a few ceramic tiles and a dent in my ceiling. But now I am buying into the system and it works. Have still not been able to take a full swing but have gained accuracy and distance with a 3/4 swing very effectlively. Will soon have the guts to go all out. Have lowered my handicap by four strokes with all your great tips and follow up backing. Cheers and keep up the good work.

Hi Andy. Nice video. I can imagine St Andrews as a very special course. Never been there but just maybe some day. We don’t have a problem with snow here in Puerto Rico but the heat can be extreme. Finding the time to play is the hard part. But playing a round and having a chat with ChiChi Rodriguez on his course every once in a while is great.

Andy
You have been missed, welcome back
The 17th on TOC, The Road Hole – yet again we find a certain party fiddling with our great courses. When will they learn our courses are just fine, its the ball and equipment that is the problem. But then it seems more important to mess with the course than take some serious decisions to resolve the distance the ball travels.
The dinosaurs are not dead, they are alive and working at The R&A. I expect its all because of their cold blooded nature and with the weather being rather cold, thus it has slowed down their mental as well as their physical abilities (hope that also applies to their egg laying). Well what other excuse have they for not addressing the real issues facing Golf today.
Great to hear from you

Hello Andy,
Snow and cold are not a problem here in Muswellbrook (in the Hunter Valley), NSW,Australia at this time of year. Many golfers take a rest during late summer because it is too hot. Mid afternoon temperatures often reach in the high 30′Cs. Those who play at this time of year commonly hit off early eg 7-8am to avoid the heat.
We have a local boy, Kurt Barnes , who has qualified to play this years British Open. We will be watching with interest to see how Kurt fares.

Andy, love your videos. I usually go south out of Canada to Florida or Texas each year but was not able to this year. However eight of us are coming to St. andrews for a week in May to play the the Old Course and some other courses nearby. St. Andrews is a special place.

Andy,
…..Thank you for your interesting, beautiful blog of St. Andrews…..It brought back many memories of this magnificant golf complex….I played the Jubilee.Course in June 1953 and experienced the whole weather gamut, i.e., brilliant sunshine, no wind to high winds, heavy clouds and driving rain…..I enjoyed the ‘bump and run’ type of golf and was satisfied with shooting 92…. Welcome Back Andy,
Snow is finally gone in Kansas this week, but more rain. No golf this winter what so ever.
