In this show we talk to Doug Clement from Kingsbarns Distillery about funding the project. Initially £100k was raised for phase 1, in order to find the location, get planning permission and ensure everything was ready for the next phase.

In phase 2 they are now seeking £1.85m so as they can carry out the build work and open the distillery with working capital.

Doug said they are looking to be fully funded in next 2 – 3 months. This would mean work can start in late Spring, and be in a position to distill by end of the end year or at the very latest Spring 2013

Kingsbarns Distillery has had support from Scottish Enterprise with provisional acceptance for a Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) Grant of £150k.

If they can reach £1m in prviate investment, there is a chance of getting the remaining investment from the Scottish Investment Bank.

Thus the distillery will be funded with private equity and government funding.

The distillery will be built from a renovation of East Newhall Farm Steading on the beautiful Cambo Estate.

Golfers will be able to finish their round on the Kingsbarns Links with a trip to a unique “barley to bottle” craft distillery producing single malt single cask scotch whisky as well as a range of non-matured spirits such as gin.

Full planning permission and listed building consent has now been granted by Fife Council.
