In this episode of HomeofGolf.TV Doug Clement from Kingsbarns Distillery describes the three main ingredients in whisky. There are water, yeast and barley. Also very important are the wooden barrels that you mature the whisky in. At Kingsbarns they will be unique in maturing their whisky in quarter casks, meaning a quicker maturation period. This will deliver a ricker and more full bodied whisky. The whisky will be ready within 5 to 7 years as opposed to about 10 to 12 years.

Golfers will be able to finish their round on the Kingsbarns Links with a trip to a unique “barley to bottle” craft distillery producing single malt single cask scotch whisky as well as a range of non-matured spirits such as gin. Full planning permission and listed building consent has now been granted by Fife Council.
