I really enjoyed the interview, when I could hear it. I had the sound on my computer as high as it could go.

I know it is difficult to get high quality sound when outdoors, especially when the speakers are on the move.

Still, having played the Old Course five years ago, I enjoyed what I could hear and the familiar sights. I especially enjoyed the commentary on how Tom Watson solved his "wall problem". I had a similar one, but was even closer to the wall and decided not to use his tactic for fear of damaging my club, so I chipped the ball back toward the tee box (I am a lefty), far enough from the wall so I could hit a lob wedge. Fortunately, the ball landed and stopped less than three feet from the cup leaving a short putt for a bogie. It was certainly one of my favourite holes, although I think 18 gets the nod partly because of the Swylcan bridge, but also because I missed an eagle by inches having bailed left of the green because it is so close to the parked cars. My second shot was taken from about 40 yards left of the pin landing in the top right quadrant from where it spun directly back down to the hole only veering to the side when it was a few inches from dropping. No eagle, but a nice birdie to remember the Old Course.

Cheers

I really enjoyed the interview. The insights from the caddie, caddies period, are wonderful. I'd never make the 17th hole in 4. But it's something to strive for. I've saved the video link to my desk top so I can visit again.

Andy,
That video brought back memories! I used to play the Old Course quite regularly back in the 60s and the Road Hole was always one of my favourites, although I only managed to par it twice! It is definitely my favourite Open hole.

Hi Andy,

A very entertaining hole, the mental game is more important than the physical one.

John would be the man to have if you were playing this hole.

brilliant interview + footage.me and my 16 handicap would love a crack at this wonderful golf course. Might need the caddy to hit a couple of shots. May also need a repair man handy, to fix any potential wayward shots.
